Most dripping taps come down to a handful of common faults: a worn rubber washer on traditional taps, a failed ceramic disc cartridge on modern lever taps, perished O-rings around the spindle causing leaks at the base, or a worn jumper valve seat that's scored and won't seal properly any more. Slow-draining sinks, leaking waste traps and toilets that won't flush properly are some of the most common plumbing call-outs we get across Wigan. We carry the parts for most jobs so they're sorted on the first visit.
Waste pipe problems usually trace back to one of a few causes: a perished compression joint or olive that's lost its seal, a cracked P-trap or U-bend under the sink, a blocked or partially blocked soil stack, or a failed seal where the waste pipe meets the soil and vent pipe (SVP). On older Wigan terraces we also regularly find lead or cast iron waste runs that have corroded and need replacing with modern push-fit or solvent-weld plastic pipework.
Toilets that won't flush, flush weakly, or run continuously are almost always down to a worn flush valve diaphragm, a siphon unit that's lost its seal (common on older low-level cisterns), a faulty fill valve (ballofix or float valve) not shutting off correctly, or a snapped flush handle linkage. We fix or replace cisterns, syphons, fill valves, flush valves and full close-coupled or low-level toilet units.
